The Shuakhevi HPP comprises three schemes. First Chirukhistsqali scheme consists of a diversion weir, a 6.4 km long unlined tunnel with a capacity of 10.6 m³/s and Skhalta powerhouse with capacity of 10 MW using 110 m gross head. Chirukhistsqali scheme is connected to second scheme called Skhalta Scheme consists of 29 m high Skhalta Dam and an unlined diversion tunnel having length of 9.4 km. The Skhalta Scheme diverts the water to Didachara dam which is a part of Shuakhevi scheme. The waters of the three rivers collected by the Didachara Dam are directed to the Shuakhevi Hydroelectric Power Plant which has an installed capacity of 175 MW through an 18 km energy tunnel. This facility will produce an average of 428 GWh of energy per year by using a gross head of 437m and a flow rate of 48.9m³/s.
